Gemma began with the small moments that mark a slow evening - warm light, a table set for friends, the quiet after a long day. Its name is a nod to my father: our family name, Topaz, is a gemstone, and Gemma means “gem.” I wanted to make something that belonged to those moments: beautiful, useful, and honest about what it’s made of.
So I turned to wax. Every candle is poured by hand, in small batches, from materials I’d want in my own home - because things made with intention feel different. And you can tell.
What we bring into our homes matters
Most candles are made from paraffin - a petroleum by-product that releases soot into the air as it burns. Most people never think about it.
Gemma exists for the other option: a candle made only from what we'd want in the room where our own families breathe. That's the whole mission. Everything else follows from it.
All natural ingredients
Coconut & soy
No paraffin, nothing petroleum-based — a clean base of coconut & soy wax that burns slow and even.
Wood
It burns evenly, without metals, with a soft crackle that sounds a little like a fireplace.
Natural fragrance oils
IFRA-approved and free of the harsh synthetics — enough to fill a room without ever overpowering it.
